Chaos Studies ("the App") is designed with privacy in mind. This Privacy Policy explains how we handle information when you use our iOS, macOS, and Playdate application for exploring strange attractor visualizations.
Privacy-first design
We do not collect, store, or transmit any personal data. All processing happens locally on your device, and no information is sent to external servers.
Information we do not collect
Chaos Studies does not collect, store, or transmit:
- Personal identification information
- Usage analytics or telemetry data
- Device motion or accelerometer data beyond immediate visualization use
- Audio data or recordings
- System information or device identifiers
- Location data
- Network activity or browsing history
Local data processing
The App processes the following information locally on your device:
Accelerometer (iPhone and iPad)
What: Accelerometer data for parallax effects
Purpose: To create immersive motion-responsive visualizations
Storage: Not stored; used only in real-time, never transmitted
App settings
What: Display mode preference (light/dark), sound settings
Purpose: To remember your configuration between app launches
Storage: Stored locally on your device
Permissions
The App asks for no system permissions.
Accelerometer (iPhone and iPad)
Read for the parallax effect that responds to device tilt. iOS and iPadOS do not ask for permission to read it. You can turn Parallax off in the App's settings, and the App works the same without it.
Platform-specific notes
iOS & macOS
Distributed through the App Store and follows Apple's strict privacy guidelines. The app runs in a secure sandbox environment with all system access controlled by platform permissions.
Playdate
The Playdate version uses the device's accelerometer for parallax and crank for rotation. No data leaves the device; all processing is local.
Data security
Since all data processing happens locally on your device:
- Your preferences are protected by your device's system security
- No data transmission means no risk of data breaches
- Settings are stored using secure platform-native preferences
- You maintain complete control over your data
Children's privacy
Since we do not collect any personal information, the App is safe for users of all ages. No special provisions for children's data are needed as no data collection occurs.
Changes to this privacy policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be reflected in the "Last updated" date above. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
